If you look at my business card, the first thing it says under my name is “Professionally Busy Woman,” which to be honest, is a pretty apt description of myself. I am completely incapable of relaxing. I am perpetually jumping from one thought to the next, from one activity to the next. My husband always jokes that the closest thing I can do to relaxing is organizing my closet, which to be fair, is true.
Between my “real” job, my blog, my side hustles and my volunteer work at an animal rescue shelter, I keep myself more than plenty busy and most of the time I love it. But every now and then, I am hit with a wave of exhaustion. That is exactly what I felt last summer, which was a sign that I needed a vacation.
I’m not usually one for taking vacations. Especially as a travel writer. It feels like every trip is an opportunity for me to capture new content. Aka, work. And yes, my work is incredibly fun and rewarding, but sometimes a girl just has to unplug.
