I’m a very visual person and I love being inspired by images and videos. Which explains why Instagram is my favorite social media platform. I follow lots of ‘grammers, particularly fashion, food and travel bloggers. For me, it’s all about inspiration.
I love scrolling through my Instagram feed in the morning as I get ready, during my lunch break and on my commute home for work. It’s quick and simple way for me to decompress and gather inspiration about the various hobbies I have. I love fashion bloggers and Instagrammers, but sometimes it can feel a little too forced, too planned.
But with travel bloggers, it’s different. They are capturing the world around them as they explore through it. They may be currently on an adventure and documenting their time abroad. Travel feeds feel more natural, more organic, which makes me much more inspired. I am particularly inspired by female travelers out there, because they are helping to break down the stereotypes that the world is unsafe for women.
Here are just a few of the many women I follow for travel inspiration. Click on their images to see their full Instagram feeds.
Kirsty’s adventuresome spirit takes her to unique places, like Georgia, which makes her feed educational for me. I see shots of places I’ve never seen before, and makes me wonder about some of those “off the beaten” path type places. You won’t see many selfies in her portfolio, but she’s got a healthy mixture of other interesting subjects, like landscapes, food, and architecture.
Megan has a great eye for capturing the every day life of a place. Her pulse on street life, local culture and food really helps her followers to picture what a city will feel once you arrive. I’m a particularly big fan of all the street art that she photographs. She is currently wandering her way through Cambodia.
Emilie’s feed inspires me to explore nature and all of its infinite moods. Her use of light, simple filters and color juxtaposition captures the feeling of being outdoors throughout the year. Just take a scroll through her photos and you’ll be planning your next camping trip in no time. Plus she’s got a super cute hat collection that follows her around the world.
I love that Nicole has a really eclectic feed. I initially found her when I was oogling at Sri Lanka photos in a fit of nostalgia. I never quite know what the next photo will feature, and I am always happily surprised to see where she’s off to. She’s got a good eye for the quirky, colorful and foodie elements of a place.
I love how Aileen photographs the architecture throughout Europe. She can capture buildings in the best light, like sunset or at night. She also snaps pictures of some seriously delicious looking food!
I met Mithila in Nepal last October through a mutual friend. I love her raw take on street life in India and Nepal. She captures the simplest moments in life and brings out so much emotion from her subjects. Recently, she has documenting some of the earthquake relief progress in Kathmandu, a city that she holds dear to her heart.
Taylor’s bright, lomography-style filters and interesting angles make her photos fun to look through. She’s got a lot of the touristic bucket list items checked off, so you’ll notice lots of cool sight and experiences in her feed. Plus, you’re likely to get a little hungry for street food as you scroll.
I appreciate that Becki’s Instagram feels like a real person exploring the real world around her. Her feed isn’t overly planned or professionally edited, which makes it approachable. She captures cute selfies, average life and street art all in the same place.
What I love about Taylor’s feed is the fun and colorful vibe she shares with her followers. She has a cute sense of style and the photos she shares, particularly from Peru, make you want to drop everything and go right now. Plus, she’s an ice cream fanatic :)
I stumbled upon Kaelene when I was doing some research on traveling to Iceland, and started following this Oregon native immediately. I’m a sucker for anybody who boasts a lot of nature pictures, especially waterfalls! She’s got a good eye for capturing the raw and organic landscapes of Iceland, while also making time for fun with her life partner.
