When I moved to Chicago, I knew one of the things that I would miss the most was the fresh food for Madison’s famous farmer’s markets. Nothing beats the taste or fresh veggies or locally made cheese. But then I discovered the Logan Square Farmer’s market!
The market was actually one of the big draws for me in choosing this neighborhood, because it runs every Sunday throughout the year, winter included! The first time I went was shortly after I moved in and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. While it’s no Madison market, it still has a fairly robust selection as well as lots of food stalls where you can grab a tasty snack.
Sam and I have walked over to the market every Sunday since moving in and it’s such a great ritual for us. The market opens at 10am and thankfully, there are minimal amounts of strollers and dogs at that time. We wander around to check out the selection and prices, then loop back to buy all of our produce for the week. In season right now are berries (blueberries are the best!!), zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, greens, and peaches.
Since I’m trying to eat better, stocking up on veggies on Sunday is great way for me to plan out my meals for the week and keep myself on track. I’m loving veggies on the grill with chicken or pork, and eggplant is always a winner for me too.
For this week at the market, I’m wearing a quilted Sanctuary top over a thrifted pair of JCrew shorts. I love how summery the mint feels! I’m also wearing my awesome sandals by Aperlai, with the coolest beaded details. Finally, I’m carrying my Opening Ceremony leather purse and Peace Treaty mint necklace.
