Packing for a Two Weeks in Italy

I love packing and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’m pretty good at it. I’ve been on enough international trips for both short and long durations that I’ve got a system down. And manage to fit lots of well-planned things into my bags. I do the flat fold packing method. Some people swear by rolling all of the clothes, but I’m not into it. I like everything folded and layered. And I sort it by outfit/use. I keep the things that I will use right away (toiletries, pajamas, clean socks/underwear, etc) on the top and things that are more occasional are on the bottom. That way, you don’t have to unpack and repack whenever you need something.

Before every trip, I pull out all of the clothes and items that I want to bring and put them in my suitcase semi haphazardly. And then I walk away, and come back a few days later. (check out the before picture below, I had wayyyy too many things!) Then I go through all of the things that I initially picked out and weed out things that I don’t actually want to bring or don’t think I will wear. I usually narrow it down by at least 25%! This is a hugely helpful exercise to prevent against over packing.

I have fell culprit to that too many times, and let me tell you, it’s a pain in the ass. It is not worth it, because you will always buy things abroad or not wear a good portion of what you pack. Be smart about it! Although I’m not really a fan of doing laundry while traveling, sometimes its a necessary evil to keep your bag light and easy to move around.

You can see a preview of some of my outfits below, but the breakdown of what I packed in my large suitcase for this 2 weeks trip is
