Restaurant Review: Jacs

348s

Tonight is one of those rare nights- neither me nor Sam work! And that only means one thing, we’re going out for dinner! We don’t do too many date nights, but when we do, eating at some local restaurant is always on the docket. Both of us are such foodies. Tonight, we’re going to a Monroe Street favorite: Jac’s.

For dinner, we got an appetizer of chipotle cassis duck wings. I had never had these before, and now I will never go back to Jac’s without ordering them. They were amazing! The breading was super crispy and stuck to the wings perfectly. And the chiptole cassis rub was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. They were perfect.

For my entree, I ordered a lemon thyme breaded chicken with kale & roasted potatoes. This is more simple than my normal taste, but everything was excuted perfectly and it came out more elevated than I expected. The chicken was pan fried with a homemade bread crumb crust. And the lemon thyme sauce was almost like a hollandaise. So good.

Sam ordered a New York strip with brussel sprouts. Steak is always a go to for him, and this strip didn’t disappoint. Seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium rare, he couldn’t have been happier. Brussel sprouts are one of those veggies that I hardly ever order at restaurants because I prefer them a certain way. But Jac’s did it up right. Super al dente and seasoned simply, to celebrate the natural flavors of the sprouts.

Overall, this was the best meal we’ve ever had at Jac’s. We both left full and happy and I’m sure we’ll be thinking about that meal for a few days to come.
